The Career Services Officer has primary responsibility for facilitating the necessary career development/job readiness of graduates and near graduate students that will result in graduate job placements. The focus of this position is the development and maintenance of relationships with employers and graduates that will assist the Career Services Team in meeting and exceeding graduate placement goals. Success requires a team approach and contribution within a peer group of Career Services Officers by providing customer service to externs, students, graduates, alumni and employers in career development/job readiness, job search and placement. Obtains graduate employment opportunities, facilitating interviews and graduate hires
This is a full-time non-exempt position that reports directly to the Director of Career Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (as assigned by the Director of Career Services) include, but are not limited to:
Graduates
- Obtain, verify and record placement data of graduates - including but not limited to employment and waiver information
- Regularly and consistently produce placements as a result of actively marketing graduates to employers: Present resumes, secure interviews, conduct follow-up with employers and graduates, etc.
- Work closely with graduates of assigned program(s) to assist with post graduation job search: develop leads, conduct follow up, review and revise employment documents, etc
- Maintain regular and consistent contact with graduates of assigned program - document contact in CampusVue
- Educate graduates on job search techniques, job market trends, and professional etiquette; provide guidance and assistance as needed
- Facilitate Career Development workshops and assist graduates with preparation and revision of employment documents (Resumes, Cover Letters, Applications, etc).
- Conduct Exit Interviews and Needs Assessment meetings with students and externs
- Assist in preparation of students for after graduation employment
- Assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with Externship Sites
- Assist with establishing and maintaining relationships with Externsip Sites sufficient in numbers to meet the needs of the campus' extern population.
- Assist in administering contracts, insurance certificates and other documents for externship
- Assist with the development of job orders from extern sites in effort to meet and exceed extern to hire goals
- Participate in Externship Orientation(s), as needed
- Assist, as needed, with timely placement of externs in facilities that meet the educational requirements of the respective programs' externship course
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers and extern sites for the purposes of externship/internship, job leads and job placement of graduates.
- Consistently develop job leads that result in placement of campus graduates in their respective field of study
- Follow up on posted internet and newspaper job leads, solicit internal campus staff for job leads, and initiate job lead campaigns on campus
- Provide support to employers seeking to fill positions within their organizations with campus graduates - conduct employer needs assessment and follow-up as needed
- Request and gather feedback from employers in the form of surveys, interview feedback, etc.
- Maintain employer database (CampusVue)
- Support and/or organize PAC Meetings in partnership with Director of Career Services, Career Services Officer(s), Education and Executive Admin
- Generate program interest with city associations and local employers
- Assist in the organization of job fairs on campus, attend outside job fairs, invite employers to speak to current students, and arrange on-campus interview
- Contribute to the Career Services Department meeting and exceeding graduate placement goals
- Provide exceptional customer service to students, employers, graduates, alumni, and staff
- Adhere to rules and regulations of respective accrediting bodies
- Accurately record all activities in CampusVue
- Assist Director of Career Services in maintaining accurate graduate and alumni database (CampusVue)
- Special projects as assigned by Director of Career Services
- Associates degree required; Bachelors degree preferred
- Current driver's license is required
- Microsoft Office experience is required: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience in career services preferred or employment background in any of the following:
- ?Job Placement department at a Vocational School, College, or University;
- Staffing Agency;
- Recruiting;
- Marketing/New Business Development/Sales;
- Customer Service; or
- Specific industry experience in field(s) of Charter College's Allied Health, Business, IT and/or Accounting
- Must have proven organizational skills
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
- Must possess exceptional social interaction skills
- Must display a team-oriented approach
- Must be professional in all aspects of the position including professional dress and appearance, demeanor, and attitude
- Consistently display the highest levels of integrity
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, perform well under pressure, meet deadlines, and work flexible schedule
- Experience with CampusVue application a plus
