Big Bang UPA Reforms will Trigger Agrarian Crisis in India- Vidarbha Farmers ?Nagpur - September 15, 2012
The big-bang reforms, the government on Friday allowed 51% FDI in multi-brand retail, 49% investment by foreign airlines in aviation sector and sale of equity in four PSUs along with hike in diesel price and reducing subsidies will further aggravate the ?rural agrarian crisis ?as this move will now allow multi nationals to take control of agrarian economy from village itself as having allowed MNCs to create vertical and horizontal monopoly in agriculture input like seed ,pesticide and fertilizer and controlling out put price by prevarication it on commodity exchanges has made vidarbha cotton farmers as slaves of these MNCs and fate of other India farmers will be same if this decision of opening FDI in retail is deeply established by ?destroying ?exiting village economy and protected fabrics ?hence vidarbha farmers? strongly oppose this move and denad the roll back of UPA Govt. most unfortunate decision ,Kishore Tiwari of Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti who is fighting the saving the dying cotton farmers of vidarbha region who are innocent victims of wrong technology on MNCs and faulty policies of state ?resulting more than 9000 farmers suicides since 2005 after the American MNCs Monsanto ?allowed to take over cotton economy of the region .
?vidarbha is classic example of FDI in agriculture ,the has done massive investment in seed, pesticide and vedicides ?but it was not for welfare and progress of poor cotton farmers of region as MNCs who promoted technology earned more than Rs.40,000 crore converting whole west vidarbha dying field for vidarbha cotton farmers? as region is getting report one innocent farmers suicide @ 8 hourly since June 2005 ?due to massive debt ,distress and despair mostly ?out of crop failure and open market and free trade exploitation hence we are convinced that allowing FDI in retain and in rural economy will harm interest of farmer more over it will trigger agrarian crisis in remaining part of India as no FDI is for charity and welfare of dying rural masses who are focused as mega consumer ocean for these already bankrupt companies hence this logical opposition should be viewed and agrarian economy should be protected from this round of liberalization as done in other emerging nations in the third world ?Tiwari asked.
?Vidarbha farmers will start protest from Monday if UPA Govt. failed roll-back both decision of FDI and hike diesel as this is last chance to save our nation from clutches of MNCs and to stop disaster ?Tiwari urged .
